Enjoy friendly games of boules, relax with a spot of fishing on our lake, or try your hand at crabbing off the sea wall. For nature enthusiasts, our birdwatching opportunities around Wallasea Island are a real treat. And that’s just the beginning. The park offers countless ways to unwind, explore, and have family-friendly fun. Come and create cherished memories with us.
Boule
For those who enjoy a bit of friendly competition, our park has a well-maintained boules pitch in the Wagtails Rest area of our park. This classic game, also known as pétanque, is a great way to spend time with family and friends. You can play any time, but don't miss our competition matches every Sunday. Whether you're a seasoned player or a curious beginner, the boules pitch is often buzzing with camaraderie. It’s the perfect opportunity to engage with other guests and enjoy the outdoors, or play a friendly game with the kids or grandchildren. You can bring your own boules balls or borrow them from reception. There are also some children’s sets available on request.
Fishing
For those who love to fish, our on-site lake offers a peaceful retreat where you can spend the day angling. Stocked with a variety of carp, the lake is perfect for both experienced anglers and beginners. We offer a day rate for fishing, with prices per rod, making it easy to enjoy this relaxing pastime. The tranquil setting of the lake provides a serene backdrop for a day of fishing, whether you're hoping for a big catch or simply enjoying the quiet. Some of our premium static caravan sitings back directly onto the water, allowing you to fish straight from your own pitch. Check our current static stock and contact us for availability if this is something you dream of.
Crabbing
Crabbing is a delightful activity for all ages, and our sea wall behind the park is the ideal spot for it. The River Crouch, rich in crabbing history, is home to various species, including the abundant green shore crabs common in Essex. Bring your crabbing lines and bait, or purchase essentials from our reception, and spend a relaxing day by the water. It's a simple and enjoyable activity that offers both entertainment and education, making it perfect for creating memorable family moments, especially during the warmer summer months.
Birdwatching
Birdwatching enthusiasts will enjoy the diverse habitats at RSPB Wallasea Island, ranging from marshland and lagoons to the open sea. This area is home to a variety of birds, with recent surveys recording a record number of waterbirds including teal, shoveler, and wigeon. Notable sightings include 700 avocets and over two thousand black-tailed godwits. Wallasea Island, and even the lands surrounding our park, are fantastic spots for birdwatchers and nature lovers alike. The island also provides a chance to spot common seals basking along the riverbanks, adding an extra touch of wildlife magic to your visit.
